Who Are They Talking To?  What Happened To Cellular Etiquette?

 - Have you ever seen someone walking down the street and they appear to be talking to themselves?  You think to yourself, "Who are they talking to?", but then you realize he/she is not a crazy person, they are actually talking on the phone.  Has the invention of wireless earpieces and Bluetooth devices created communication convenience for the phone user, but annoying social experiences for bystanders?  A recent article by TheWashingtonPost.com explores this social implication in their article A Tough Call: Invisible Phone or Invisible Friend? (free registration).

Ask us today how we can help your business with effective communication solutions.

Back to School

Well it is that time of year again, summer is winding down and another school year is about to begin.  Kids of all ages, from grade school to college students, are increasingly making technology part of their back to school preparation.  Topping the list this year for college students is everything from laptops, desktops, and iPods, to cell phones and Bluetooth devices.  A recent article from TheWashingtonPost.com highlights the technology college students are bringing with them to the dorms these days and just how much they are spending, an average of about $1200 per student!  Don't forget to check out the latest offers online before hitting the stores.

Considering a technology purchase?  Our partners, TechDepot and CDW, can help provide your business with technology such as computer hardware and software.  You can also visit CDW's dedicated Mac Warehouse.

Technology Watch: Google

What is Google up to these days?  Well just one of their new developments will allow entrepreneurs to more creatively offer promotions.  Their new service will allow businesses to offer coupons for users of Google Maps service, which also acts as an online yellow pages. A business will be able to upload the coupon's content, including images, and when that business name displays during a search, a link to the coupon will appear.  Customers can then print the coupon for use. Read more in the recent New York Times article, New At Google: Local Coupons (free registration).

Take Your Business Online

We often hear that it is expensive to have a web page.  Actually this service to provide hosting for your domain and a small web page can be less than $15 per month.  A simple domain and small website can be done very affordably.

Now you will probably ask, “How much does it cost to develop a web site?” The cost and development will depend on your objectives and what you need. Web sites can be as simple as a single landing page with your contact information and logo.  There are even basic templates available as well to give you a site for presence until you are ready to elevate to something more elaborate.

Your website gives your customers insight into your business, or even just to find you in the first place.  Think of it as your electronic business card and informational brochure.  In addition, it will make it easier for you customers to remember YOUR email address when they need you.

Still not convinced? Consider this, most consumers make purchase decisions after researching a company or product online.
